In Germany we have the same with turkish people. I got turkish roots. When I look at other ones with this background I understand Trying to be less of an asshole than I was yesterday shirt why there is a bias towards „us“. The majority are fucked up people. I don’t know if this applies to the U.S. but I can understand the phenomenon.
Trying to be less of an asshole than I was yesterday shirt
I couldn’t watch the whole video because it wouldn’t play for me but…I studied some American history and current education practices in school. In Canada our schools are funded based on the number of students. Schools in poorer neighbourhoods still get the same amount of money because it’s not based on property taxes. Trying to be less of an asshole than I was yesterday shirt Teachers also don’t get paid more or less based on what neighbourhood the school is in. (In Canada) We don’t have the same issues with racism (although it still exists of course) because we have a very different history. It is completely wrong that children from poorer neighbourhoods get an inferior education!

This video makes a great case for why parents should be able to decide which school their children attend based on the quality of the school rather than the government choosing which school your child attends based on your zip code. For the past few years and even more recently…I have often imagined as I rode the back scenic country roads of North Carolina where I now have lived for 20 years….the families that have been afforded property from generation to generation.
Where would they be and what would they really have if land was as hard to get for their ancestors like it was for ours. They pass it down, sell it back to the city, use as collateral…..and are the very same people that really think they have worked hard for what they have. So tired of hearing and seeing this and I just don’t know where I can start so I can make a difference and leave a legacy for my grandchildren.
