I think this video is suggesting travelling, in general, makes one a better person, which I find a little hilarious. People post travel pics and stuff like that to appear more “cultured” than the rest of the 7 billion people on earth. This video just further supports that absurdity. Studying what others wrote or discovered is the first step. Snoopy let me check my giveashitometer The second step is to research and touch a foreign culture, etc. You cannot find it in the books or TV. It is always a partial view. Of course if you are spending your time in 5 stars hotel, you won’t touch the local environment and society. I love traveling and meeting new people in new places. You learn much more than at home.

I traveled around in the military but enjoyed going to wine festivals and concerts, bed and breakfast, museums, rafting, hiking, skiing, etc on the weekends place 2 hours from were I live that I have never seen. Most of the time it was just $50 to $100 I would spend on gas and eating at a local restaurant. The experience has been amazing realizing all the treasures in my backyard.
