Although I feel every individual should do what they feel is right and best for themselves, I also believe that it just isn’t realistic to expect that every single person is going to get to find a career path that fulfills their dreams and passions. Sometimes a job/career is just that and nothing more. Snoopy it’s a hallmark christmas movies and dr pepper kind of day It’s a means of being financially sound and it funds and financially allows for a person to pursue their passions on their time off from work.
My job is not my passion. And I do not live in regret. I live in gratitude that I have a job that pays me well enough to pursue my passions on the weekends and hopefully later in life I will be able to pursue them full time once I’ve retired. I didn’t force anything on anyone, in fact the very first thing I said was that each person should choose what it best for them as I have chosen what is best for me. Now, of course, nobody should pursue a law degree if their love and heart want to pursue a musical or artistic career. That would be wrong. But most people don’t have a big burning passion within them, pulling them towards something. Eventually everyone needs to earn a living. Not everything about the ideals of past generations was bad. Work ethic and plain simple devoted hard work are admirable objectives too.
My family makes me want to do and be better. That is why I work my butt off at a job to provide for them. Whatever works for each individual, I am all for it. But I refuse to raise my children to believe that anything other than a strong work ethic (including working at a job that you do not absolutely love) is going to get them where they want to be in life. It is a fantasy, fairy tale, and a farse. If you are able to discover your passion at a young enough age that you can develop it into a means of providing well for yourself, consider yourself extremely lucky. But for the vast majority of humans this is not how it happens.
