That is the point! Precious cargo at 15,00.00 a year. Ask some one who carries toilet paper to be delivered, how much he or she makes a year. It is a sad situation. Sadly to say I did it for 35 yrs.only because I needed a roof over my head. That doesn’t work in the SF Bay area of California, School bus driver just turn it off and restart it not with a single parent. Rents alone are $2000 and up for apartments. Though happy you make it work. I love Loveland, all of North Eastern CO.
Cool School bus driver just turn it off and restart it
I work 4.25 hrs driving and 2.50 on my mid day as recess and lunch monitor. Combined still not 40 hrs. a week. I have 3 kids of my own and pay 830 for rent every month. I manage my money wisely. My kids or I need for anything. I absolutely love what I do. Underpaid is not a good word because it depends on your life style. School bus driver just turn it off and restart it I am a single mom and live in a beautiful condo. I have nothing flashy but we my children and I are happy. There is a shortage of bus drivers because it takes time to learn and train not to mention patience!
People now a days don’t want to take that time. They want everything handed to them at no effort of their own. Honestly though there are some absolutely amazing bus drivers out there and for that we should be thankful. We really do carry the most precious cargo. We’ll also the other problem is a lot of places went from paying for training to not paying for training so that’s like two-plus weeks out of your life or you get no money depending on how long it takes you. The other thing is after working in safety as a dispatcher and a driver nobody can pass the drug test and the amount of people with DUI’S doesn’t help hiring either.
Get this tee and be cool with it!
I feel bad now because I never think about tghe school bus driver unless I am behind one or passing by one of the yards.
They all deserve so much respect especially for keeping our kids safe and not going ballistic with the conditions they work under how you expect dignified living wage, if our teachers underpaid? Before I start my own business I worked for a several companies and had to come to work sick too. Do you think 5 paid sick days a year enough, when you raise kids? And also, in our district most of bus drivers are early retiring and $18/hr it’s a decent addition.
Did you just really ask me how I can I expect a living wage if teachers are underpaid? Yes they are underpaid, they should get paid like doctors but damnit I should be able to afford my mortgage w/o two and three extra jobs! Not cool, not SAFE or acceptable. But guess what?! When your county need 200+ drivers and they are running with 40 less than the minimum, sometimes we are forced into bad bad situations. But we love our student, our kids, so we keep on trucking.
