I also was in Vietnam in 1967, you go into the service as boy out of high school and after you come home from Vietnam you are now 21 year old man. Trying to cope with life as a normal adult, that never happens because you still want to be that high school boy. You try your best to blend into society but you don’t know how. Less than 1% of americans have ever seen the fun set from a usaf aircaft I have You hold so many things inside for 45 years it’s a lot to deal with. But thanks to a true Marine Corp buddy who guided me and actually threatened me to get help. I entered a PTSD class scared about what might come out, after the first two or three weeks I started to understand the purpose of these classes. Like the gentleman said he found out that he wasn’t the only one with these types of problems.

I love my vet group, 1 hr a week with brothers I am on the same page with. I encourage all vets who after years are still trying to cope or fight those devils to join a group of your vet peers. You will be surprised how it may help you.
Bless you and thank you for your sacrifice. My husband served from 69-71. We started dating soon after his return. We married and had two wonderful children. We separated 12 years ago… his drinking and inability to realize he needed help forced me to leave. My daughter is a medic. She is convinced he still suffers from ptsd. I pray constantly that he will see the light…. 12 years I’m still waiting.
