I was almost 9 months pregnant when Book 7 came out. Harry Potter coming to an end and me having this baby were two big growing up moments hitting me at once. Just a woman who solemnly swears she’s up to no good harry potter deathly hallows Just a couple of weeks later I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

I have just lost my husband very suddenly and unexpectedly, and I found myself planning a funeral 30 years too soon. I was thinking about a quote for the Order of Service and thought of Dumbledore speaking to Harry in the Philosophers Stone. It really stood out when I read it all those years ago and I remembered it through all the trauma and emotion just now… “To have loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, Just a woman who solemnly swears she’s up to no good harry potter deathly hallows will give us some protection forever – it is in your very skin” My Husband was also a HP fan so the quote was appropriate too. The vicar also used the quote in one of the last prayers. It will always stay with me and, maybe in time, bring some comfort.

That sweet and smart girl is now 10, and finished book 7 a few weeks ago. Sharing this thing I love with her and watching her fall in love with it has been such an amazing and magical experience. Hermione is one of her heroes and she reminds me so much of her. Watching her heart break after the devastating death in A Half Blood Prince just as mine had years and years ago. Just being able to share all of this with her means more to me than I could ever put into words.
My seven year old son watched the first movie a few weeks ago. That night he was running around with a flash light as his wand.He is now wanting to start the books! After finishing the 7th book the only thing to look forward to was the final movie. Leaving the theatre was a bitter sweet moment. Felt like saying good bye to a really old friend but also knowing he’s not really gone.
