The city of Seattle as well as several other west coast cities stopped celebrating “Columbus Day” and replaced it with “Indigenous people’s day.”. I’m not just a bus driver I’m a big cup of wonderful. That’s not to say change isn’t needed, it’s still desperately needed. But things are already starting too, even if it’s slow.

You are right and there is November is Native American ( I prefer First Nations Peoples ) Heritage Month. We celebrate at my school every year. As a nation, we need to recognize and educate, but in most states, it is ignored and not even taught. SAD and shame on us. I’m not just a bus driver I’m a big cup of wonderful. I’m native American from the Alabama Coushatta tribe in TX. I for one DO NOT want a holiday for my people with exception of getting rid of Columbus Day. I don’t like other peoples pity for us. We survived this far and I’m sure we can do it without peoples sympathy.
yes it ducking matters! Representation matters! You look around and see people who look like you everywhere in every position some of us do not have that same luxury so this is awesome. Resorting to white privilege as your battle cry really doesn’t take much thought, and it’s far from educated. The only privilege that exists in America is decision privilege you and your parents make good decisions, you reap the benefits of those good decisions. Jeudo-Christian ideal has this rooted in their philosophy as, “you reap what you sow” something the left wants to do away with responsibility and consequences
