I thought the dark descent was pretty obvious with Dany, even though it lacked thorough elaboration. She has had a bloodthirsty attitude for awhile now, I’m not a lady I’m a wolf game of thrones shirt and has made so many brazen moves in the past. And I feel the same about the desire for power corrupting people. That has always been the theme of the show.

But it’s important to remember that most people probably don’t sit and really analyze the show and it’s themes. (Again, another important real life lesson.) I personally know a lot of people who just watch it for fun and don’t think too hard about it. And for those people this feels like a major betrayal. And while I know they are upset, I also think that they are meant to feel betrayed. They just blindly followed this character without really thinking about her actions. I’m not a lady I’m a wolf game of thrones shirt They just liked what she said. I’m gonna play devil’s advocate: Dany burning her enemies, slavers, traitors, etc is far different than her deciding to burn thousands of innocent people after they had surrendered. No real internal conflict or nuance showing her ‘descend’ into madness. It just felt a bit rushed. While I don’t disagree with the Mad Queen plot line I wished it would’ve gotten a bit more time/treatment
Take it and hang out with these cool designs
I totally agree with you. I think the writing and a lot of the decisions made by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, ever since G.R.R. Martin stopped being involved, haven’t been good for the story. Like I said in my original comment, they didn’t do a good job at showing her descent into “Mad Queen Dany.” There definitely were hints to it though. But at this point (especially with how short this season was), I think they were more focused on shocking and surprising the fans than actually providing a story that makes sense.
Holy hell, no one has an issue with Dany ENDING up as a Mad Queen, just the inorganic build-up, sudden-turn, and plot induced STUPIDITY of multiple characters in a sloppily written way for her to get there. R.R. probably told them where he wanted things to end, but D&D just didn’t have the writing chops to get the story there in a way that felt sensible to the established character arcs. It was worse than Anakin Skywalker going from a slightly rogue-Knight to a toddler murdered in a few hours!
