Grad day is absolutely insane (speaking from personal experience of my husband’s a few years back) and there are SO many people there, it’s possible that his family sat high up in the bleachers and are fighting the giant crowd to get to him so they can tap him out. I served I sacrificed I regret nothing I’m not a hero but I’m proud to be a Vietnam veteran Usually if an airman knows his family won’t be able to be there, a buddy near him will go immediately tap him out as soon as he’s tapped so that he doesn’t have to stand at attention.
Top I served I sacrificed I regret nothing I’m not a hero but I’m proud to be a Vietnam veteran collection!
My husband said at his BMT graduation they worked it out amongst their fellow airmen who was going to go tap out those who didn’t have family coming. And there are tons of families who go love on other airmen too. I didn’t have anyone. It was the most empty feeling in the world to accomplish something that big in my life at the time, I served I sacrificed I regret nothing I’m not a hero but I’m proud to be a Vietnam veteran and have no one to share it with. It’s a God awful disease. Soul destroying to think of what that poor man is going to face down the line. But is so proud of his son. I pray for miracles everyday so I am adding a prayer for him. He deserves nothing less.
I take it that you’re going to go all out this Memorial Day weekend (red white and blue banners, paper plates, paper cups, paper napkins, etc)? Maybe you’re going to use a red white and blue table cloth or have some lovely pillows adorned with mini flags? Have you read the Constitution Margaret? Members of the Armed Services swear to uphold the Constitution – which includes Freedom of Speech, Press and Assembly. As a Vietnam era veteran, I see taking a knee as Freedom of Speech. President Trump who got five draft deferments and is a chicken hawk should maybe read the Constitution also since he seems to know little about it.
Have a sweet day and get this tee!
Beatrice Bautista I was about to say the exact same thing. Leave that kind of thing for another post. This is to respect those that we have lost. Not to make points. Remember the fallen. Remember the memory of our loved ones lost. “Memorial Day”.
Can we just celebrate the holiday and our military who gave the full measure? Politics will still be with us Tuesday. Those of us who have lost loved ones, those of us who have family serving now and always facing deployment might like to just observe the holiday. It’s not even football season yet. The schools quit teaching honor and respect generally though not all and too little is practiced in public every day instead of just one day year
