I went through psychiatric testing for aspergers syndrome, a form of ASD when I was 8. Unfortunately the psychiatrist who performed the test horrendously misjudged my symptoms and ruled that they were too minor to classify me as autistic. As such I was filed into the school system with no special aides whatsoever, and was forced to live up to the same standards as my neurotypical peers. I really only began to flourish as a person I am his voice he is my heart autism awareness shirt when I moved away from home in my early 20s, the complete change of environment allowing me to uproot my old tendencies and develop myself further. I still have a long way to go with my mental development, certain aspects of my social development are still hindered (particularly involving intimate relationships) but I know I’ll get there in time.
I admired your declaration on how you were able to mingle and manage from bullying. My neighbor is until now cant speak maybe of no proper nursing care. Dont even know how to communicate / reply through sign language. What an inspiring young man If my son can achieve half of what he has I’ll be happy Gives is parents hope to hear people overcome their difficulties and succeed in life I have a nephew and a niece with autism that were now in their twenties. The truth is. .. they are the persons who taught me more to be patient, understanding and thoughtful for the less fortunate. I grew up with Paul. As a teen it took me a long time to understand and appreciate him. He is an unbelievable human and is paving the way so that kids don’t have to deal with all that he dealt with.
