Well, the showrunners did let the Sand Bastards of Dorn take over the House of Martel despite having absolutely zero claim to it. They’re also ignoring or forgetting a lot of the details they set up much earlier in the series. They’re lazy, coming up with explanations for things later on that had no meaning before (like the first symbol the WWs painted with body parts, only to use spirals in the end,) or hoping show-viewers are so enamored by the CGI that most don’t think too deep about the actual plot. Yes, that is true…. I agree Jon’s watch has ended. Game of thrones house targaryen keep your queen warm shirt His walking away is legitimized by that. But I think the bigger point is that the Wall has been breached now…Sam has been on a mission for the Realm and if things end as I and many others hope…. I want Sam to be Lord Tarly with Gilly at his side as his wife. And that baby will be his heir.

it is safe to say that as far as the show is concerned… I love both. My book comment is exclusive to the books… I don’t apply anything from the books to the show at this point… just replied to Sosirée’s question is all. Its been 8 years since A Dance with Dragons was published. In those 8 years I have read those five huge books three times in anticipation of book six. I may have to go back and read them all again as I’ve probably forgotten great swathes of the storyline so far.
I don’t like the way that the tv show removed so much storyline and yet added others that were not ever there What the show did to Dorn is almost unforgivable, but the utter bleaching of GoT of 99% of its magic, prophecy, warging, dreaming, and general removal of the concept of ‘fantasy’ in the genre….to me, was what allowed this series to become a smoldering dumpster fire. It’s a pretty one, and I’ll watch it to the end, but it’s still garbage.
