let’s put it this way, if the creators of the show had $1,000 to film the episode, the storytelling would have likely been phenomenal, but they spent millions of dollars on an action sequence better suited for Marvel. agreed, but here’s my problem, like current politics, this episode is a lot of showmanship but little substance. There was some, but I would have rather had a better resolution to the myth than the battle. so, two possibilities, the prince that was promised is supposed to save the people from the darkness, and that can mean the long night brought about by the wights or bring peace to a dark political era. The latter would mean you are correct, and the former would mean that the prophesy was wrong – not the first time in GoT I thought it was a fantastic and great way to finish off this chapter. Game of thrones air arya stark shirt With so few episodes, regardless, this was going to be tied up quickly. Arya is Azor Ahai, and that’s the biggest twist we could’ve had. The Prince that was Promised. It was under our noses the entire time, she’d been given that prophecy by Melisandre back in season 2.
I don’t think any other character killing him would have felt as complete, or out of left field. The Night King is unimportant, and uninteresting. The only other option they have is swapping another character out to kill him, if you can think of someone that would be more satisfying by all means I’d like to hear that. Jon would be too obvious, he’s always the “hero” but he isn’t the main character so that trope is annoying overused, and the number of characters wielding Valyrian steel are pretty limited. Also having it be the same dagger that was meant to kill Bran, and frame Tyrion, is pretty cool in my opinion. I don’t know, I have A TON of complaints about the past few seasons on this show, but this was the only episode that gave me a feeling similar to the twists in the first four seasons.
