Confused because Bruno Mars is so talented I was too busy enjoying his music to care what his race or anything is The article should use him as an example how cultural appropriation has evolved. Bruno mars christmas tree It should not point blame to him, but rather point blame to the music industry as to why they are overlooking black R&B artist.

The issue HERE is whether or not Bruno Mars deserved to win. You are trying to say he won not because he was/is significantly more talented and popular and has sold more records than his competition for the award, you’re trying to say he ONLY won because the others vying for the award were “blacker” in skin colour and were vocally political having spoken out against racism. You might have a leg to stand on IF he weren’t so incredibly talented and successful. Bruno mars christmas tree This was not an upset win. The best man won- go eat your sour grapes elsewhere.
What difference does it make as long as we’re enjoying the music. We, Latinos don’t have to worry about our salsa. No one is accusing us of cultural appropriations I’m as left as it gets but this is just garbage. You can’t expect equality and harmony if you go around telling people how to cut their hair or what music and art they can be inspired by. It is ridiculous, pathetic, petty, offensive and entirely backwards thinking and completely unproductive. Stop it you’re discrediting yourself and those who otherwise would be political allies.
I have to agree. I draw the line at black face and offensive language or outright making fun of a particular group but if you want to borrow a hair style or musical sound that to me is a compliment not degrading. I hope my children grow into adults who appreciate other cultures. The idea that they could become cautious of other cultures through the fear of being negatively labelled as “appropriating” because of a genuine interest and desire to be inclusive terrifies me, as that could give them a negative view of other cultures. As a white family I don’t understand how it feels to be racially profiled so I can’t begin to understand the feelings of another culture or ethnicity, but I can understand the fear that, as we were beginning to progress, we could take a massive step backwards and begin the cycle all over again
