This is such a eye opening video…I wish my daughter’s teacher gets to see this….I think this should be taught to all the teachers to begin with for a better learning and positive environment. Autism travelling life journey using different roadmap shirt I think kids are judged based on various things and not being paid enough attention for the teachers to understand that each child is different and many disabilities are hidden.

I just wish the closed caption part was correct. The little girl said “please don’t take away my recess” not Reese’s! And the little girl that talks about homework says “give me HOMEWORK” that I can do all by myself” not hope! Teachers I know I cant even begin to imagine how difficult your job is and you have my undying respect and gratitude for what you do…PLEASE listen to these children..these things are true of many students even those without disability.. Autism travelling life journey using different roadmap shirt try to keep in mind that you often are not aware of what that child is dealing with at home..and try to assume the best and not the worst.
don’t forget to at Neurofibromatosis to this list too. A lot of teachers just don’t get it and treat the kids like they’re a problem. I know, because they were just awful to my son and didn’t listen when I told them his brain works differently Finally explanations about “different” types of brain functions! Does NOT mean that they are “slow” or “stupid”!! Just need to be taught in a different way!! Love this!!! I understand completely because I have ADHD and Asperger’s and the teachers would always think I’m not listening because I would start moving alot or sometimes would zone out
In this day and age and with all the knowledge we have it amazes me at the lack of understanding there is. It also amazes me that when you do finally find a teacher/EA and/or resource teacher who gets like really gets it, the funding just isn’t there. My Mom had to fight tooth and nail for every step to get me help. They put me on meds that didn’t help at all (I’m not hyper active attention deficit, I’m just attention deficit). They put an already laid back student who couldn’t focus and put her on a drug meant to calm someone down. I was a zombie I missed classes even though I was there. In the end my Mom listened to me and together we found a way that worked. The world just needs to listen, we’re smart, smarter than people give us credit we just have a different way of learning and showing it.
