Says a white man. Or you would know that others need the chance to prove and grow and achieve. Why are so many white men in Congress? Because they’re the only intelligent ones? You want honest, competent people (skills, experience, training). And ethnicity is the relevant experience of being a member of a certain cultural group. Always be yourself unless you can be a witch. And as a leader of her tribes, she has a further unique experience of thousands of years of ancestral knowledge and connection to the land. This makes her a valuable contributor for all of us.
It’s not unreasonable to want a government which will work for as many people as possible. Therefore doesn’t it make sense to have more diversity in representation? Isn’t a total lack of it in a governing body its own kind of tyranny? Her positions on various issues make sense to me and would lead to very positive outcomes so she has my support. As a Coloradoan, I cannot cast my vote for her but I am a neighbor to the north who’s very excited about this campaign.

That she is a Native American woman matters because for too long the voices of women and people of color have been silenced and not taken seriously, historically and currently, in both overt and more insidious ways. She is qualified and will fight for more equitable opportunities for all people and represent her community well. Funny shirts. (New Mexico, by the way has a high Native American population, as with any place, half the people are women and there are lots of working people of all backgrounds who’s voices are not being heard and who’s interests are not being represented so a change in that paradigm would be most welcome.)
