A Christmas movie channel has debuted on television that broadcasts 24 hours a day seven days a week

It’s that time of year again, when we all complain that it’s too early for Christmas talk, but a TV channel has gone one step further by airing holiday flicks 24 hours a day. That’s right, Sony Movies has 13 weeks till the big day (remember, that’s a full quarter of a year) to prepare.

Today is the start of Christmas (24 September). However, with strengthened lockdown measures in place in the UK, it may not be such a bad thing. You may wish to batten down the hatches until the coronavirus has subsided. “Santa and his elves aren’t the only ones working their stockings off to guarantee there’s enough Christmas material to keep you in a festive mood right until the big day and beyond,” Sony said when announcing the launch. Because, frankly, when isn’t it a wonderful moment to spread some holiday cheer? Now appears to be as good a time as any.

And what may we anticipate? A Beauty and the Beast Christmas, Marrying Father Christmas, and The Christmas Cabin will all kick things off. You can also look forward to themed weekends such as Christmas Comedies, Naughty vs. Nice, Wicked Christmas, Singing for Christmas, and more. Sony Movie Christmas is available on Freeview 50, Sky 319, Virgin 424, and Freesat 303. If you think Sony is ahead of the game, wait till you hear Bauer Media, which launched a Christmas-only radio station at the end of August. The company claims that its holiday services, which are only available online this year, are essential to improve people’s spirits during what could be the worst year in modern history.
